Goulburn Valley Walnuts Pty Ltd - Processing Facility at Violet Town

Goulburn Valley Walnuts Pty Ltd has recently imported from California a new and fully integrated processing and drying plant which is now operational in Violet Town, near the Hume Highway in central Victoria. The plant has a capacity of 5 tonnes per hour and provides growers with efficient, low cost processing. In addition to the hulling, washing and inspection operations, the plant has features to reliably remove orchard waste and reject nuts.  A bank of drying bins, segmented into 2.5 tonne capacity lots, ensures efficient removal of moisture while keeping production from different orchards separated. Regular moisture tests are conducted to ensure drying is adequate but not excessive.

A complete cracking, shell extraction and packing plant has also been imported from the US and will commence operation in July 2008. Reliable and rapid shell extraction is achieved by the use of multiple dual airlegs, aspirators, re-cracking and roller sizing. This plant will process in excess of  500kg per hour of in-shell walnuts when fully commissioned.

Goulburn Valley Walnuts was established to enable growers to achieve economies of scale in processing and quality control.  The group's marketing services will ensure small and medium growers control their own destiny as the industry expands and develops.

Growers are invited to use the facilities on a contract basis.  For further information contact Neil Garrett 0488 513348 or Ron Williams 03 9817 1872.  Web: www.gvwalnuts.com.au
